Inspire, Educate and Entertain....

Inspire, educate, compete & entertain...this is what I love to do with my very much loved animals!  Hi, my name is Lizzy Traband.  I am eleven years old.  I live at Carousel Farm with my parents, where we stand a Trakehner stallion, train young horses, teach and compete at hunter/jumper shows and sometimes fox hunt.  I love to teach my animals tricks and to ride bridleless.  Sometimes, I perform with Tommie and Karen Turvey in "The Night of Amazing Horses".  I taught several clinics at the Florida Horse Expo.

My mom is a really good rider.  The horses like her.  She loves all of our animals and enjoys all of their quirky personalities.  She is very kind to all of the horses and they trust her.  My mom grew up mostly showing hunters and jumpers.  She is a really good bridleless rider.  She won a colt in an east coast horsemanship contest, when she was sixteen.  She said good riding is just plain good riding, regardless of the breed of horse, type of tack or competition.

We break and train all of our animals.  We have a farm manager that helps with the feeding and stable management, but we have no grooms at home or on the road.  We work very hard at the farm.  We also make most of our own hay (ugh).

Many wonderful people help me with my riding.  I sometimes get to take lessons from Elizabeth Solter, a good friend of my moms.   Elizabeth rode a horse named “Roxdene”, that was considered the “Hunter Horse of the Century” Mom believes Elizabeth is one of the most talented riders in the country.

One of my favorite things to do is to train with Tommie Turvey.  he is an amazing horse trainer.  I think Tommie could teach his horses to do anything.  His horses do liberty, tricks, ride bridleless and roman ride.  It is so much fun riding with Tommie.  I love all of his horses...especially Joker and Ace and Poker Joe is a "star"

I haven’t said much about my wonderful ponies,  but I have included a page on each of them.   I currently have four wonderful ponies, that I eventually will use to teach other little kids like me to ride.  I have four horses, I ride that I am hoping to compete.  I have four young animals that my mom and I are training together. Most of my animals were bred at Carousel Farm or purchased young and untrained.  All of my animals are different...each with different talents and providing different challenges to me as a trainer / rider.

We all work really hard at what we do.  I know how hard my parents worked to build Carousel Farm, to breed and train our young horses and to continue to train and care for them.  We put in some long days ……but like I said earlier….I am one of the luckiest kids in the world.  I could’t imagine my life without the horses and all of the people that are a part of my life, because of the horses.  I want to become a great horseman and help others to enjoy and embrace the wonderful gift that the horses provide us.
