This spring, I hope to make several training DVDS with the help of my mom.  We have watched many clinics at various expos.  At the end of the day, I just want to ride my ponies and horses, feel in control and have fun.  We use a very simple program to train our horses. .....and we ride Trakehners, which are considered to be one of the hotter and more difficult warmblood breeds.  whether looking to compete, perform or just trail ride, we think our program could be utilized by others to help them more fully enjoy RIDING their horses!  I am only 10 years old, my mom had to make it simple enough for me to understand.  We feel anyone with some good guidance can find their to complete enjoyiment of riding their horse.

Training DVD I: Starting the Young or Beginning Rider – On this DVD Lizzy discusses the three most critical skills for a young rider balance, strength and feel.  In addition, she demonstrates various exercises, including lounge line exercises that can be used to develop these skills.  She discusses mount suitability at length.  As a bonus, she does a demonstration of backyard vaulting, which is a very fun activity , which is also great for balance, strength and feel development.  In closing, she takes of the brildle and does a flat and jumping bridleless riding performance on her pony.  She rides her white Welch-quarter pony..”Puddles”  on this DVD.

Training DVD II: Ground Work to Prepare the Horse for Work Under Saddle - This DVD will show you how to work a young horse on the ground prior to working them under saddle.  This DVD cuts right to the chase.  We round pen to engage the horse in communication, acclimate him to his environment, allow him to relax and introduce basic skills.  This is critical for success under saddle, but the exercises are kept simple and at a minimum, since the ultimate goal is to ride your horse.  We continue to utilize ground work prior to mounting, but in an "as needed" basis, which is also discussed in the DVD.

Training DVD III: Daily Flat Work Routine for Training the Bridless or Perfomance Horse – This DVD includes a discussion and demonstration of the four basic lateral and longitudal exercises done at w-t-c every time we ride, to get every horse at our farm are better broke and ultimately more enjoyable to ride.  These exercises and simple, but effective.   This is the heart our bridleless and performance training program at Carousel Farm.  Done consistently, it can result in riders and their horses having the ability to ride their horses at the w-t-c and ride over fences bridleless.  This DVD concludes with bridleless riding and jumping demo on “Rosie” and “Jacquoe”.   Lizzy and her mom alternate the demonstration of the exercises on “Schoenrosa” and “Plain as Bay”, respectively.  Both of these horses have successfully competed at top national hunter competitions.

Training DVD IV: Starting and/or improving the Over fences Horse – On this DVD, Lizzy starts with a very quick review of our flatwork.  She then discusses and demonstrate every step of our progression for starting and/or improving the over fences horse including free jumping, trot fences, jumping gymnastics and riding courses.  When demonstrating the jumping gymnastics, we build it from the ground up, showing various solution for corrections of various jumping challenges (like getting quick, jumping crooked, etc).
