One of the things that I love to do with my ponies and horses is to ride bridleless. My mom was inspired as a child by the Foxfield Drill Team to teach her ponies ride and jump with a thin neck wire. When I saw Tommie Turvey ride bridleless, it inspired me to want to ride my ponies bridleless. Having done it as a kid, my mom was able to help me. Now at the end of most workouts, I take my ponies/horses bridles off as a reward. They love it. I think they know it is a reward, because it feels good to have the bridle taken off. We teach them to ride bridleless just by consistently incorporating some simple exercises into their work program.
